Are you looking for mens gym wear? As with anything, there’s always an exception to the rule. Men stereotypically, tend not to be fans of shopping. This is exactly the reason why GOAT has compiled a great little guide to the essentials and basics needed for your gym wear.
Vest or T-Shirt
Choosing your favourite colours and styles goes without saying, but consider a lightweight top, one that is designed to keep you cool. Breathable materials that ventilate well can make it much easier for a longer workout, simply because increased body temperature can increase our heart rate. In keeping cool and dressing well, you will have a little more energy for running or lifting harder.
Hoodie
You’re highly likely to warm up in the gym, and wearing a quality hoodie on your way to the gym will make sure you keep warm both there and on your way back from the gym. This will also allow your muscles to warm up gradually prior to working out, and not get overly cold too fast post-workout.
Bottoms
Selecting your gym wear is often down to personal preference. Whether you are more of a joggers or shorts guy, it is definitely worth investing in some breathable fabric for the bottom half of your body too. You should also consider supportive underwear, especially if you’re wearing shorts. We really don’t want anything popping out at any time! Ideally, a solid collection of gym wear should consist of joggers and shorts, but if you are a bit touchy about your skinny legs, or certain you will easily overheat then opt for what you know.
Footwear
Workout footwear that provide support are a great gym companion for weight training or if you are riding the exercise bike. More of a runner? Then you will need a pair of running trainers to help shield your joints from the impact of running, but generally, trainers are a good choice.
Fitness Tracker
Whether you’re into Apple or onboard with a FitBit, we all love a gadget and the gym is a great excuse to get a new one! If you strength train more than cardio, it’s definitely worth the extra investment in a heart rate monitor for superior accuracy.
Accessories
From sports bottles, sports socks, sweatbands, caps and straps, you can end up[ going a bit crazy in the shopping for your new passion. Cheap may be easier on the pocket, but as with most things, you tend to get what you pay for. Obviously, your budget will always dictate what you can physically afford but remember that cheaper products tend to use cheaper materials, so that new running t-shirt may not offer the breathability you need or those trainers may not provide as much support as you’d like.
Gym Bag
A plain old boot bag or Asda carrier bag won’t cut it. You’re going to need a sports bag to hold your sweet new gym gear
